Good Books for Baby’s First Year

Some of these are great to read to your newborn even though they can’t understand what you are saying. It just feels good to read to them and to your fellow baby care giver during or after a long day. Others are good for anytime in the first year. Here are some of my favorites.

Goodnight Goon

Good Night Moon – A classic. Why is it a classic you may ask? I don’t know. Maybe something to do with the strange yet comforting repetition of saying goodnight to things we don’t usually wish goodnight. Sort of an animism-lite.

On the Day You Were Born – All of nature knows your baby is coming and as they spread the message you can read about various natural processes that will be occurring while your baby is about to come out.  If you don’t cry at the last page you need to get in touch with your feelings.
